What determines a used server's value

• CPU count and generation, total RAM, and drive configuration
• Presence of dual power supplies, RAID controllers, and rails
• Age — servers within ~5 years hold value best
• Condition, and whether units are tested and functional

Remove and destroy the data first

Servers hold your most sensitive workloads. Every drive must be securely wiped to NIST 800-88 or physically destroyed, with a certificate issued. Never rely on a simple format or on 'trusting' the buyer — insist that certified data destruction is part of the transaction and documented.

Sell the whole configuration, not just the box
